He makes a useful distinction about “clericalism”.
Fr. Z kudos.
Fr. Lankeit also touches on on something that I wrote about yesterday, about priests who force the Mass to their own will, rather than conforming themselves to Mass. He speaks of “Fr. Iscariot”.
Blessed are his sheep.
Thank you God.
Boom indeed! Now THAT is truth speaking.
Wow. That was breathtaking.
Nice little whop on… the SJ priest who peddles his books at the 22:40 mark and following.
Wow. I bet nobody dozed off during that 25 minute sermon! Fr. Lankeit is a riveting speaker.
I hate to use a phrase that gets so abused by the Left, but he spoke truth to the Satanic power active in the Church.
Much of what he said struck a chord in things I remember seeing and hearing.
I ache to hear such power and truth and plainspeak from the pulpit.
Thank you for sharing that sermon Father Z. Father Lankeit would make a great Bishop, as would many other priests who share his philosophy.
My daughter Kateri is wondering if this whole saga and homily sheds any more light on Fr. Corapis’ plea of innocence?
I was struck by his emphasis of the word “again”.
Riveting and true. Thank you for sharing!
Corapi is an all too familiar story.
An priest was ruined by fame – accelerated by a windfall legal decision that have him a large amount of money.
Simplicity yield to excess. Which led to pride. Which led to thinking he was entitled. Which led to misconduct.
The only way out is to reverse the chain and go back to living simply as an unknown.
Superb.
The virtue of holy obedience as a treasure in our Faith towards growing in holiness is pretty much slowly eroded for the people in the pews when the example at the altar is of those short cuts , those “little” failures in obedience to the rubrics , among other examples of disobedience by the priest.
It devalues obedience for some souls.
Bishop Sheen said that Peter’s denial started when he began walking at a distance from Jesus and warming himself at the fire.
It was an, otherwise, excellent sermon; except that an important fact was left out as has been the case with everyone else. The fact is that it was started as an agenda to destroy the Church by order of Joseph Stalin of the old Soviet Union. It was, also, the leadership of that same Soviet Union who promoted the effort to destroy the reputation of Pope Pius XII. It helps to know who is behind agendas of this kind.
Even the ordinarily congenial Bishop Barron is sounding a trumpet call for Catholics to enlist in the Church Militant and fight with strength against these evils.
It should be noted that he is the Rector of the Cathedral of Phoenix. That says a lot about one of favs Bishop Olmstead.
Father, thank you so much for posting this sermon. It is such a JOY to hear the truth spoken strongly from a pulpit. Well worth investing 24 minutes of listening. It is strengthening! More, more!
It’s sad when I have to rely on the internet for homilies to address these things. The priests at my EF parish haven’t mentioned any of this ONCE. Not ONE bit of guidance or moral support to the faithful as we have to exit our churches and chapels and face the brunt of the world’s condemnation of the Church we love so very much.
