Cum pulicibus surgunt! Occupy Wall Street!

Heh heh. Gotta love this

Occupy Wall Street kitchen staff protesting fixing food for freeloaders
By SELIM ALGAR and BOB FREDERICKS

The Occupy Wall Street volunteer kitchen staff launched a “counter” revolution yesterday — because they’re angry about working 18-hour days to provide food for “professional homeless” people and ex-cons masquerading as protesters. [I hope they’ll  give those protesters some tips about life on the inside!]

For three days beginning tomorrow, the cooks will serve only brown rice and other spartan grub instead of the usual menu of organic chicken and vegetables, spaghetti bolognese, and roasted beet and sheep’s-milk-cheese salad. [“Hi!  My name is Bruce, and I’ll be your protest host tonight…”]

They will also provide directions to local soup kitchens for the vagrants, criminals and other freeloaders who have been descending on Zuccotti Park in increasing numbers every day. [Gotta keep that sheep’s milk salad for themselves, after all.]

To show they mean business, [“Business” is so mean! Let’s go protest!  And I’ll have the carbonara instead of the bolognese.  And can I have some sparkling water with that?  Thanks, Bruce.] the kitchen staff refused to serve any food for two hours yesterday in order to meet with organizers to air their grievances, sources said.

Look out!  They “mean business”!

This is ridiculous. I am so sick of hearing about the wallstreet protesters, (who have sometimes violent rallies), and i’m sick of prolifes being labeled as hypocrytes, and really sick of Rosary Vigils being rubber-stamped as ‘Violent protests’, when in reality, the Wallsteet people are 10 times more violent!

  2. I’m not sure what’s funnier – the article itself or the “flea life cycle” graphic. LOL!

  3. Tifoso says:

    LOL. Great stuff :-D

  4. irishgirl says:

‘When you lie down with dogs, expect fleas’.
[I think that’s the exact quote]
Glad you let the ‘Occupy’ idiots ‘have it’, Father Z!

  5. TC says:

Where is the ACLU when you need them?

1.) the “security volunteers” are actively trying to clear the park of homeless and other undesirables. If the actual authorities tried to do this (O the humanity!) ACLU would be all over them.
2.) I would argue that the OSW kitchens, like real restaurants are a “public accommodation”. From press coverage it appears that OSWniks are overwhelmingly, um, white. The homeless tend to be disproportionately not white. The 99% couldn’t possibly be discriminating by race and class — could they?

  6. Mary Jane says:

This is just too hilarious. =D

“…organic chicken and vegetables, spaghetti bolognese, and roasted beet and sheep’s-milk-cheese salad…”

Goodness, I don’t even get to eat like this and I have a job!

  7. Supertradmum says:

I do not eat like that, either. And, I do not think it is funny. I want to scream at these people? “Go work in the fields, instead of the illegal immigrants.” Spoiled, entitlement brats…no matter what their age.

  8. JohnE says:

“the kitchen staff refused to serve any food for two hours”

Impressive. Even longer than the required fast before Holy Communion.

  9. AnAmericanMother says:

At least you can get rid of fleas.
The homeless in NYC are a vector for virulent drug-resistant TB.
You can NEVER get rid of that. . .
. . . and that’s NOT funny. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. TB is not the pretty, sanitary disease portrayed in “La Traviata”, “La bohème”, or Windus’s painting “Too Late”.

  10. pseudomodo says:

    This all sounds familiar…

I’ve read this before in a book in highschool. I think it was called Lord of the Flies. Wake me up at the part when they kill Piggy!

  11. TravelerWithChrist says:

When will we learn from history?

This is just a glimpse of what our nation will look like in a few years if we continue down a socialist path.

The inordinate demands on the VOLUNTARY kitchen staff is ludicrous! By the way, have these kitchens met the health codes? These protesters might leave if food were no longer offered to them…or if the quality was more in line with the…say…concentrations camps…

  12. Tim Ferguson says:

the libs are already trying to kill Piggy, by banning the manufacture and sale of Primatene Mist, the over-the-counter medication that would have helped his athsmar.

  13. Peggy R says:

The irony of it all is so amusing!

Since O has offered to forgive some student loan debt, isn’t that the signal for these kids to get back to class?

    “Mission Accomplished”

I can see the banner now.

  14. Joe in Canada says:

It takes most families 3 or 4 generations to get to warm-beet-and-sheep-milk-cheese salad. OWS has done it in one month. Hurray for bourgeoisification!

  15. Trevor says:

Apparently the poor and homeless are not part of “the other 99%…

  16. Navy Jeff says:

It is hilarious how absolutely elitist their menu selection is, but it is simultaneously scary how some of them don’t want to feed the poor. At least old style liberals fed the poor…

  17. JMody says:

    Met with organizers?
So they admit or allow it to be leaked that there are organizers, or is it ringleaders? Are these folks going to be held for inciting all this mayhem? I mean trespass and curfew and violence and theft and vandalism, and now this — expecting WORK from Bruce and his cohorts. The shame! The unmitigated GALL! Justice! And tomorrow, no white pepper for your hummus!!!

  18. Supertradmum says:

Of course, the anarchists are, ironically, organized. See the anarchist portal for more info…

  19. catholicmidwest says:

Great stuff. The American system does still work on occasion.
The funniest part is how long it took the homeless to overcome their reticence about mingling with the very STINKY Wall Street protesters. It’s a step down for the homeless. The food must be pretty decent. Probably provided by someone, as I would bet all those generators were…..

Great move by the city, BTW, removing all those generators & fuel. They were a safety hazard on a public street in a big city where children and elderly might pass, yes. And a noise nuisance, as well. Generators are loud.

  20. catholicmidwest says:

    Peggy R,
These people don’t have the basic qualifications to attend college on the public dime. They only parrot back what they hear. We need real thinkers to lead this country, and they don’t come from the kind of spoiled entitlement-coddled brats that have time to picket wall street. They come from working class families who know the value of money and the value of ideas. Our system is broken.
