Just For Nice! Deacons sing to Mary after their ordination.

Spotted on hated Facebook.

A popular custom for ordinations at Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary—the ordanandi [ordinati!] chant the Salve Regina in thanksgiving for their newly-received orders. From last Saturday: those who were ordained to the diaconate.

What a glorious sight (and sound) of these foot soldiers of Christ kneeling in thanksgiving to the Queen of Priests.

    Just beautiful!!

Congratulations to all, and are these men part of some kind of schola or chorus? Wowee, they sound terrific. I think my blood pressure went down 10 points.

  4. Deacon John says:

Nice to hear the solemn tone, and so beautifully sung. In the Archdiocese of Boston, we more often sing the simple tone, most notably during the funeral rites of priests and deacons.

Deacon John: interesting. I’d always associated that version with the Dominicans, the very few times I’d heard it, and thought it was specific to that order. Looking forward to doing more research! But anyway, this clip was beautiful on many levels, not least the tonality, and from only 9 (?) voices. God bless these men and their service. And thanks, Father Z. Inspirational.

Thanks be to God! Prayers for all of them, especially Deacon David McWhirter FSSP.

    This is great. Deo gratias.
