From The Washington Examiner:
Nancy Pelosi: Kermit Gosnell case ‘really disgusting’
During her press conference this afternoon, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was asked if she was aware of the Kermit Gosnell case and asked whether Congress should hold hearings to make sure similar atrocities were not occurring in other abortion clinics.
“I think that whatever went on there – I only know what you all report on it – is really disgusting,” Pelosi replied. “It is really disgusting, and when we talk about reproductive health for women, that’s not what we’re talking about.”
[…]
No, Nancy. That’s exactly what you are talking about.
This thing you and your catholic dem colleagues in Congress and in the lobbies around you are thrusting on the American people is about …
… Big Business Abortion.
Gosnell is in logical lockstep with you in your waltzes with Planned Parenthood and the like.
Gosnell is more than likely not an isolated case. His abbatoir reflects exactly the culture of death you and your catholic colleagues have involved yourself with … while saying that you are Catholic.
I’ll admit, by the way, that you were right about Obamacare… ObamaTax. We are now all really getting to know what’s in it. So thanks for the HHS mandate too.
I can’t wait to see what Pope Francis will say on the Culture of Death. No punches will be pulled.
Well? … did Ms. Pelosi answer the question?
What’s disconcerting about all Gosnell coverage that I’ve seen is that the main focus is whether the baby is inside or outside the womb. What difference does it make? The little one is viable in either case. If location makes it moral to kill someone, then God help us if the government ever legalizes “killing rooms”. If being dependent on another makes it moral to kill someone, then again, God help most city dwellers who would starve and be drowning in their own filth if there were no markets, sewage systems, and garbage collections.
The whole thing is horrific regardless of where or why it has been made legal. It screams at the heart that so many people (assuming they even hear the news) can casually read their morning paper, sip their cup of coffee/tea, and casually mention at the water cooler along with the other water cooler conversation pieces. What on earth is wrong with all of us?
What Nancy means by reproductive healthcare is that when you murder someone, you should clean up. She was disgusted with the unsanitary equipment and facilities, not with the destruction of life.
” – I only know what you all report on it – ”
Since the coverage by the media has been virtually zero except for Fox News, she may actually have a thin alibi to hide behind.
She is a loon.
When the Grand Jury report on the Gosnell case was published in January of 2011, the
Pennsylvania Dept. of Health was forced to finally resume inspections of the state’s abortion
mills. None of the 22 abortion ‘clinics’ in the state had been inspected since the pro-abortion
Governor Tom Ridge was elected in 1995. It is the willful ‘see-no-evil’ attitude of pro-abortion
politicians like Ridge and Pelosi that made Gosnell’s abattoir possible for so many years.
I cannot imagine the DOH electing to skip inspecting all nail salons and barber shops for over
15 years, but that’s precisely what was decided in the case of the state’s abortion mills. The
decision was politically motivated. It is all part of the pro-abortion calculations of politicians
like Pelosi to turn a blind eye to what abortionists get up to behind clinic walls.
When Pelosi and her ilk are talking about ‘reproductive health for women’, permitting butchers
like Gosnell to ply their trade unmolested is precisely what they’re talking about.
Amazon will have the Fox Documentary available.
Fox News Reporting: See No Evil – The Kermit Gosnell Case
Format: DVD
Too bad there aren’t a few benefactors to flood the politicians and judges at home and in DC with copies of this DVD.
I really loathe the phrase “women’s reproductive health”.
Every time it is uttered (always by a liberal), I cringe and instantly think of abortion.
How far we have fallen in America.
If Gosnell had operated his butcher shop 50 years ago and been caught by the FBI, he would have been put away faster than the speed of light, branded a serial killer, and everyone would have known of it with wall to wall coverage- the President would have denounced the grisly acts.
Instead, the country turns away, the media resentfully gives Gosnell 15 secs. after being shamed into it ( except for Fox News), pro lifers are being blamed, and our President hypocritically (Trayvon anyone?) declines to comment out of “fairness” to an ongoing trial.
God have mercy on us all.
When I listen to Congresswoman Pelosi, I frequently find myself wondering if she is mentally impaired — does she actually believe the things she is saying? Or, does she think we are all mentally impaired — that we would be so gullible to believe whatever she is saying. I am embarrassed that she calls herself Catholic.
“Big Abortion”
That should be standard nomenclature.
Liberals like Pelosi don’t condemn what Gosnell has done, they just criticize him for being sloppy. These people are spiritually dead and their Nazi mentality is very frightening.
Killing is killing, whether it is done out of sight or in plain view. The Gosnell case is confronting to pro abortionists because the victims and evidence of the killings are in plain view, not sucked, cut and pulled out of a uterus clandestinely and disposed of in a “medical” center waste stream where no one except the aborting “doctor” has to see the evidence. The Gosnell images show what every abortion does. How can murder be called “health care”? Pregnancy is not a disease and abortion is not a treatment.
They are thinking of bringing charges against the kidnapper in Ohio for killing unborn babies:
Cuyahoga County, Ohio, Prosecutor Timothy McGinty cited Ohio law that states a person can be charged with aggravated murder for killing unborn children. A conviction on such charges could lead to the death penalty.
http://www.cnn.com/2013/05/09/us/ohio-missing-women-found/index.html
So is abortion legal or illegal in Ohio?
What has our nation come to?
So, it’s disgusting when the floors and operating implements are dirty, but ripping apart innocent human beings in a clean facility is not disgusting?! At some point, when they are old enough, I will show my children the “Silent Scream”, and I’m sure they will be disgusted without any prodding.
Why have those who profess to be Catholic, but deny the inherent personal and relational essence of the Human Person, who, from the moment of conception, has been created in The Image and Likeness of God, equal in Dignity, while being complementary as a son or daughter, been allowed to remain in The Catholic Church physically, when they have left His Church spiritually? To profess to be Catholic while denying the inherent personal and relational essence of the Human Person, created in The Image and Likeness of God, is to deny the essence of God. Those persons who deny the essence of God, deny the inherent Dignity of the Human Person and are apostates to our Catholic Faith. (Catholic Canon 750) One cannot be Catholic if one is not in communion with Christ’s One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, The Catholic Church. There is only One Body of Christ.
In other words, Nancy D.: “Extra ecclesiam, nulla salus.” Agreed.
Oh, so now that Gossnell has become ‘too hot to handle’ the Liberal polititians are starting to throw him under the bus. Nice. Gosnell was doing exactly what the liberal polititians wanted him to do, and he thought he was protected by pro-death lobby groups that funded the polititians in Ohio and accross the world to leave him and his like alone. These people are bad enough as enemies, but they are even worse as friends.
I hope Kermit Gosnell gets the chance, as Americas worst (convicted) serial killer, to reflect on this from his cell. This is what happens when you dance with the devil.
It’s not just the politicians like Nancy Pelosi. Remember that the majority of self-identified Catholics in this country voted for Barack Obama, use artificial contraception, and so on. For the most part their views are identical to the mainstream secular society. Many bishops and priests are for the most part too afraid of hurting anyone’s feelings to say anything about this. Pelosi et al are just reflecting the views of the Catholic mainstream unfortunately.
Basically we have to start over and rebuild a Catholic culture in this country.
Very interesting that Ariel Castro is likely to be tried for aggravated murder, for the termination by induced miscarriage of three of his captive children.
No doubt Pelosi and her kin will be able to explain why this is different to or worse than Gosnell. But perhaps finally she may begin to ring false in the public’s ear.
We must pray – then these two horrors will not have been totally in vain.
Friends, keep this jury in your prayers. They’ve been deliberating for 8 days, it’s not looking good. I pray that St. Michael protects them. I don’t know who the patron saint of judges/juries is?
Planned unParenthood benefits from public ignorance and prevaricating politicians like Madame Pelosi who give PP cover. A poll was just released that the majority of Americans don’t even know that PP performs abortions. Planned UnParenthood makes most of its profits from abortions. But hey, our President just told them last week “God bless you for the work you do”.
Dear @Nancy D,
it would be wrong and (what is, rarely so but here, worse) counterproductive to accuse a man, just because he is (objectively speaking) steeped in great sin and error, of other sins and errors he is not steeped in. Did I say “accuse”? Well, you did not accuse. You were assuming as fact beyond need of proof.
An apostate is a person who has (by her own subjective explicit decision) abandoned Christianity as a whole. And to “deny the essence of God” means, well, to deny the essence of God; it means being an atheist.
Let us, also, use the of “leaving the Catholic Church spiritually” with caution. We can speak of the mortal sinner as “leaving the Church in spirit”, but we had better not to, for he still does remain in the Church. On the other hand, there is such a thing as leaving the Church; which is for instance true about heretics with a certain degree of publicity – yet this is certainly not obvious. (The statement “still I hold abortion to be something bad whose numbers are to be reduced”, however insufficient or also dishonest, might in many cases grant them an escape formal heresy, though it of course does not grant them an escape of responsibility.)
Besides, if there is one reason why excommunications are to be used with caution by the Church’s authority, it is because there is only one Body of Christ, which is the Catholic Church. If we were only a group, we might be in temptation of making ourselves stronger by cutting off the weak and dissident (and more likely than not, God forgive me, I might at some point have failed to meet me criterion, hence I have a personal interest that things are as God saw them fit to be). I have to confess that I do not know why you brought “there is only one Body of Christ” onto the plan, but if anything (and if I understood your position correctly that you want the Church to get rid of them) it makes your position weaker, not stronger.
Nevertheless, a swift excommunication of heretics where they actually and formally are such, sound recourse to the can. 915, and maybe a revival of that old canon of the Pio-Benedictine Code which foresaw excommunication for “those who make laws against the Church [to be expanded: or in favor of abortion]”, would be in place. So after disagreeing so much with you, maybe it is in practical effects that we are agreeing.

It just struck me…How Sick Is That? I had a chance to reflect…for about a millisecond and thought…”Isn’t that really playing with fire?” Calling down God’s blessings on baby killers? That is just so twisted it’s almost beyond belief (well, for a rational person anyway…I’m not sure about the current occupant of the White House).
We are truly inside the looking glass here. What’s white is black, what’s up is down…and what’s evil is being held up as doing God’s work.
Wow.
Bryan, while Obama’s comment was certainly among the most blatant of examples, this inversion of reality has been going on for some time. It has been the case for some years that the name of a legislated act tells you clearly what it is not. Clinton “did not” have sex with that woman. Examples are abundant.
“Basically we have to start over and rebuild a Catholic culture in this country.”
You don’t get it. We ARE rebuilding a Catholic culture in this country. It just happens to be one that isn’t very Catholic.
How hard is it, really, to simply say that contraception is a mortal sin. How hard is it to say from the pulpit,
“Look, you women out there may not have realized that contraception is a mortal sin, you may have been told that it is a matter of conscience, but it isn’t. It is an objective mortal sin and will send you to Hell. Now, you may have been misled or ignorant, before and that ignorance may have spared your soul, but I’m telling you, on my authority as a (Bishop, Priest), that it is a mortal sin, so, now that you know, any use of contraception as contraception from this moment, on, will send you to Hell unless you are lucky enough to get to a confessional before you die. If you don’t want to hear this or you don’t agree with it – there’s the door. Have an interesting life outside of the Church.”
Why do people no longer remember that the phrase, “The Fear of God,” is your friend where moral issues are concerned?
The Chicken
Bryan Boyle….agreed.
Isaiah 5:20 Woe to you that call evil good, and good evil: that put darkness for light, and light for darkness: that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.
When I heard of Obama “blessing” Planned Parenthood, the first thought I had was ‘Which “god” does he have recourse to? Not God.’
Was he purposely trying to insult and upset Christians?
I then immediately thought of Isaiah 5:20-21.
“Woe to them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!”
I have not ever heard of such a deliberate nose thumbing at Christianity by a sitting American President. Why do people continue to put up with this?
Chicken, Jon’s comment was expansive, applying to “the majority of self-identified Catholics in this country … [who] use artificial contraception,” so why is the comment that you put in the mouth of an imaginary bishop restricted to “[l]ook, you women out there”? Are women the only ones who use contraception? Gosh, you know, I seem to remember there being other forms of contraceptives available that aren’t taken orally by women, but which are instead used by men, on whose salvation it has precisely the same effect vel non.
Nice rant, Father, but where are your cardinals / bishops to put a STOP to these so-called catholics?
Dolan is busy handing out awards at Mass to pro-abortion people!
The Pelosis Cuomos Kennedys Bidens Sibelius’ etc. etc. etc. are allowed to go on like normal. And then there is the “catholic” population who go to mass each week, who say they believe in their Catholic faith, then go out and re-elect BO to the presidency! Why????
Ask them about Gosnell and they’ll look at you with the blank stare that is their brain! As long as their phone works today, all is Oakie-dokey in their world. It’s an “all about me” world we live in; don’t ask them to step out and care.
These are not normal times, and why is nothing done about these apostasies???
Chicken,
“The Fear of God” = Wisdom.
We need a big dose of Wisdom in our congregations and in the world.

How about St. Thomas More? He is the patron saint of lawyers. A quick Internet search informs me that St. John of Capistrano is the patron saint of judges specifically.
Many prayers. A lengthy jury deliberation is usually not a good thing…
In jury selection, I’m sure the defense attorney asked people if they had ever had or participated in procuring and abortion. If he managed to have those people appointed to the jury, they may well be wrestling with revulsion versus rationalizing their previous behavior. I agree, the longer it takes, the more I fear that justice will not be served.
Are typos the work of the devil? [Have you never heard of Titivillus?]
To any commenters who are Baby Boomers PLEASE remember that words mean things. Do NOT call it “Obamacare” it is Obama Command and Control, and to us Boomers, it should be known as the “Baby Boomer Bump Off Act”. The hip replacement, insulin pump, or chemo that our elderly parents have had will be denied to us “useless” eaters though probably not the well-connected apparatchik class being built within the beltway.
The bishops and their predecessors wanted national “care” but had they been better at history and economics, they might have seen that road has always been called “Control”.
Just Googled the demon. Lesson Learned!
“Reproductive Health” AKA “Abortion”
I guess even when you’re in “de-nial” You have to come up for air.
If you’re drowning in self-deception
A gulp of Truth may not revive your Truth perception.
So let’s try to be fair
And offer up a prayer
For her redemption.

True, true, but those forms of contraception existed before the crazy 60’s and the Culture was not made to disintegrate so rapidly by them. The Pill attacked women definitionally, turning them into sex objects for the gratification of men. Male-oriented methods did not do the sme for men with regards to women. The culture did not start going downhill at a rapid rate until the Pill became popular, which allowed other methods to become popular and this, plus the vague directions from the U. S. bishops lead to a darkening of morals in a way that other methods did not. Pills are associated with medicine in a way the other male or female methods are not and this further reinforced the idea that contraception was a medical issue of reproductive, “health.”
It is the females that have been most impacted and it is the conversion of the females that will correct the situation.

My husband and I ask each other these very questions every day.
Perhaps our US Bishops/Cardinals could start here with the following example:
Quote:
Why Pope Francis Doesn’t Give Communion
Because, he says, unrepentant public sinners could slip in among the faithful, and he does not want to back up their hypocrisy. The case of Catholic politicians who support abortion
by Sandro Magister
majuscule asked, “So is abortion legal or illegal in Ohio? What has our nation come to?”
A lot of the answer to the second question is probably, ‘suffering under 41 years of the totally unpersuasive, bogus, outrageous “Roe v. Wade” ruling.’
I do not know the details of the Ohio law (or variously analogous laws elsewhere), but presumably whatever instances of carefully crafted legal protection of/justice for whichever unborn children, are radically hampered from greater breadth and consistency by the ‘Roe v. Wade’ protections of abortion.
Here is the false argument of the liberal pro-aborts and the criminal law code:
“If the mother wants to abort the baby, then it’s not a crime. But if the mother wants to deliver the baby and it’s killed by someone other than the mother in utero, then it’s a crime.”
Totally illogical.
Will the left line up behind the forced miscarriages of this poor woman being classed as murder? Because this will only open the door of their illogical, irrational defense of abortion further… Those babies were conceived in rape, therefore entirely disposable by the left’s standards- indeed one of their bedrock defenses for abortion!!
Perhaps this may, combined with Gosnell, finally spark a serious and real discussion on the heinous crime of abortion.
I agree, ACardanal. Extremely illogical.
Masked Chicken, don’t forget vasectomies, which, using your language, would attack the notion of men definitionally.
Dear Giuseppe,
I agree, to some extent, but the ability to give birth is, by definition, reserved to women in a way not comparable to men. So, sexual consequences are a strong attribute for women, but a weak attribute for men.
The Chicken
@The Masked Chicken It is the females that have been most impacted and it is the conversion of the females that will correct the situation.
Exactly right. And after 40+ years of taking carcinogens to attack our fertility and backing it up with abortion when we turned out to be too healthy, (or abandoning us to raise children without the support of their father) in the name of “reproductive health care”, I think that’s happening.
The men will follow the women.
