Over at the blog The Hermeneutic of Continuity there is a great shot of my friends Fr. Finigan, His Hermeueticalness himself, and Michael Voris of Church Militant. Voris has Father – the Dean of Bexley! – doing the pencil thing.
Not to be outdone, I have photos of myself and Voris dining, but we don’t have Dr. Pepper on the table.
The best line from Fr. Finigan’s post (and be sure to go there for the rest of the story) is:
I just enjoyed watching one of the latest of Michael’s short programmes. It is the “Boretex” in which he extols the Church of Nice and the importance of not being divisive or offending anyone.
How can we destroy the Church of Nice? Sorry, is that too divisive? I hope I didn’t offend anyone. (Well, not actually.)
How can we not? We do not have to embrace the Pharisees, so nice to everyone is not a requirement. Truth, on the other hand, is essential. Letting someone persist in their erroneous views of what the faith is is not an act of love.
Great vortex! How do I get one of those “professional Catholic” jobs?
Michael is spot on as always!
Absolutely brilliant!
Actually, Fr. Ray Blake who is the Parish Priest of St. Mary Magdalene’s in Brighton, has a very similar theme for his latest posting. He talks about The Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Ireland, Mr “End-a Life” Kenny who is pushing abortion in Ireland, not being denied Holy Communion by the likes of Cardinal Brady, the Primate of Ireland, because that would be too judgmental and the former Prime Minister of Britain, Mr Tony Blair, being received into the Church by Cardinal Cormac O’Connor without any apparent sorrow of sin, which would also be a judgmental requirement!
My favorite “Church of Nice” video from the Vortex:
