During their convention Dems will call for same-sex “marriage”

On the site of The Hill we read that during the upcoming Democrat convention, in which they will re-nominate the Evolver-in-Chief, the dems will try to insert a plank in the platform, probably the lower part of the platform, calling for the legalization of same-sex “marriage”.

Reid: Democratic platform will include pro-gay marriage plank
By Alexander Bolton – 05/10/12 01:44 PM ET

The Democrats’ top leader in Congress said Thursday that the party’s platform will soon include a plank calling for the legalization of gay marriage.

The president’s in favor of it — I’m sure it will be [included],” said Reid.  [Even though it’s just the President’s personal opinon.  Riiiight.]

Delegates to the Democratic National Convention will meet in Charlotte, N.C., to vote on the party’s platform in early September.

[…]

Reid, however, declined to say when or whether he would schedule a vote on legislation approved by the Judiciary Committee to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). The law defines marriage as the legal union of a man and a woman and exempts states from having to recognize same-sex marriages certified by other states.

“We’ll be happy to take a look at it — I just don’t know where it is and we have a few other things to do,” Reid said.

He predicted Republicans would block the DOMA repeal.

“We know Republicans won’t let us get on the floor anyway,” he said. “It’s not a Democratic problem, it’s a Republican problem.”

Attorney General Eric Holder sent a letter to House Republicans last year stating that he and the president had concluded “classifications based on sexual orientation” as applied to same-sex couples under DOMA are unconstitutional.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) [CANON 915! NOW!] has also expressed support for having a plank legalizing gay marriage in the party’s platform.

That said, don’t forget that Pres. Obama is actively undermining the 1st Amendment and attacking the Catholic Church.  Don’t forget that even when he tries to misdirect attention.

You mean the same Harry Reid who (along with Joe Biden) VOTED for DOMA?

I’ve been waiting for someone to put Obama in one of those retro-type communist posters!!! If my paintshop skill were better I would have already done so. There is ALOT of material to be mined here!!!
Does this administration wish to have the power of all three branches of government? When it is stated that “the president had concluded “classifications based on sexual orientation” as applied to same-sex couples under DOMA are unconstitutional” the administrative branch has voided a law of the legislative branch, instead of enforcing it which is it’s job. It is also clear from that statement declaring a law unconstitutional they have taken on the role of the judiciary.

I must object to the illustration in this context. Neither Marx, Lenin, nor Mao – though all were monstrous – were so brazenly hostile to the basic dignity of the human person as to propose this particular abomination.

I am sick of hearing about this on the British and French news. On France24, the comparison was made between Obama and Hollande with regard to ss marriages. So, the poster could include Hollande as well.

They NEVER give up. Don’t ever forget. We cannot rest on these victories, which fly in the face of their illogical optimism. They’re trying to “psych” us out with this over-confidence. (Apparently Andrew Sullivan and liberals at Am Prospect are pushing Maggie Gallagher to admit “inevitability.” Why should she or any of us? We’ve been winning.] We must be in this for the long haul.

Unfortunately, I think Red Dreher hit the nail on the head:

The difference is that I don’t see an end to the “the institutionalisation of the sexual revolution” as he does. Without the family as the basic unit of society, our society will cease.

Because we allow others to think for us, we are failing. I am tempted to rant, so I will end here. I recommend the article linked above, and I hope and pray that I am proven overly pessimistic in the end.

    Sorry, should read “Rod Dreher”.

Two newspapers here state that the black community is backing potus despite his aha moment on gay marriage. Catholics are being marginalized…unless they are Dem Catholics.

Fr Z, at what point should the Bishops declare one cannot join a political party? I’m not suggesting we should join the Republican Party instead, but I think the Democrats have gone over the line. They are evidently openly hostile to the Roman Catholic Church, and wish to advocate (or already do) so many policies which are squarely in the face of Church teaching.
We need a third party that’s actually viable based on Catholic social teaching.

Does Obama have a god complex or what? Now that the almighty Barack has declared his approval for homosexual unions, we all are supposed to bow down to his decree. May the Lord have mercy on this man, for his mind is that of Satan. +JMJ+

And as a follow-on to my previous post…while I understand the rationale to protect the Church mission in the UK and Empire, it upsets me that it was an excommunicable offense to join the Irish Republican Brotherhood, which at one point required its members to follow the organizations commands, if and only if they were not against the laws of God. Yet abortion, homosexual rights, birth control, etc are advocated for by the Dems, and it’s acceptable to join. Maybe I’m out to lunch as far as my line of thinking goes, but the situation is striking.

What more needs to happen before canon 915 is issued?! I mean this is getting out of hand

I just wrote my fellow brothers in the KofC I’m in & told them I know there will be members of the group voting FOR Dear Leader. If they do this we should hand them their money back & kick them out of the KofC. If the Knights don’t have principles why have us around? How can a Catholic, in good standing with the Church, vote for someone who hates the Church, is pro death, is pro sodomy, et al?!?!

Stravinsky’s notorious arrangement of the Star-Spangled Banner keeps ringing in my ears these days, as if it were composed for this very moment in history. Although incomparably beautiful, on the one hand, it strikes a terrible chord on the other, with the sound of the score of a horror movie to it, as it were a death knell for America’s better days and portent of frightening days to come for this country.

And by the time the average catholic wakes up, if ever, it will likely be too late. The USA as it was founded and existed for 232 years has been substantially wrecked in just three years by the Devil and his minions—many of them CINOS.

The USA as it was founded and existed for 232 years has been substantially wrecked in just three years….

No, this has been going on much longer than that. Let’s face it: the United States was in the forefront of promoting what Chesterton rightly called The Superstition of Divorce. Seriously, go back and read what Chesterton wrote almost 100 years ago, and you will see a striking similarity to what is going on today. We lost that battle, although of course those who really “lost” were not those who continued to oppose divorce, but those who resorted to divorce, and to their spouses and children.

The foundations of the US were Christian, but also Protestant. This has meant that in the long run, the country had no foundation stronger than the Episcopalians. Frankly, our history bears this out, as we have lurched from one ridiculous idea to another: see, for example, Prohibition. I think Prohibition is also a good analogy for what is happening here: a minor virtue (sobriety then, tolerance today) is exaggerated to the exclusion of other, more fundamental virtues. Prohibition went so far as to become a Constitutional amendment; I don’t think that the Left today would feel a need to amend the Constitution, they would just pretend that the Constitution, in one of its infamous “penumbras”, already guaranteed the “right” to “gay marriage”.

Obama knows he will get re-elected. His minions will see to that. Which is why he is becoming more and more brazen in his attacks on the Church. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

  19. Supertradmum says:

from the stonezone, which is also cynical on Potus’ statement.

“Now, incredibly, Obama says Gay marriage is a state issue. That’s what they used to say about abortion and before that, slavery. Now Obama tells us that gay couples should be able to marry but he doesn’t believe they have a right to do so. Obama would leave the question to the states–in other words -the status quo. This is like saying that public schools ought to be integrated but if the people of Mississippi disagree, well he says, “let the states decide” ……..Team Obama knows that African Americans overwhelmingly oppose gay marriage equality and fear that a more sweeping forthright stand by the President might put Ohio Colorado, North Carolina and Virginia out of reach. Obama could take a lesson in leadership from Governor Andrew Cuomo who brought Republicans and Democrats together to make same-sex marriage legal in New York State. Instead Obama tries to have it both ways.

Barack Obama is playing a cruel and cynical game with peoples lives and happiness. He did nothing to establish that gay marriage is a right yesterday.” Hmmm, I wonder

    Duplicity caught out by ideology?
If Obama believes that marriage quality is a constitutionally guaranteed civil right, as former Governor Gary Johnson does, than it can’t be abridged by the states. Forty-four states currently ban gay marriage. Under Obama millions of Americans in most states will continue be denied the right to marry the person of their choice.

The courts will soon address the issue of whether the equal protection clause of the constitution guarantees gays the same access to marriage rights as heterosexual men and women as everyone else as Governor Johnson does– including California’s Proposition 8 case. “
