   We need everyone to call Nancy Pelosi (202) 225 4965 and remind her of her Catholic identity, of the scandal caused by her pro-death stance, of the inhumanity of killing children and of forcing good people to finance the killing, and also let her know that we are praying for her conversion and for her eternal salvation.

   From the Raccolta I have modified Pope Pius XII’s prayer for Catholic politicians to recite to be a prayer for Catholics to recite for Catholic politicians:

   Great and eternal God, Creator and Lord of all things, foremost Legislator and supreme Ruler, all power emanates from Thee and depends on Thee; and those whose duty is to legislate, determine in Thy name what is just or unjust, as a reflection of Thy divine wisdom. Therefore for them, the Catholic members of Congress and Catholic politicians, upon whom rests the burden of a grave responsibility that places them at the center of the whole nation, we implore Thy aid for the fulfillment of their office that they intend to accept and exercise for the greater spiritual and material welfare of our people.

   Grant them such a sense of duty as will cause them to omit no preparation or effort for the realization of this noble end. Grant them also that objectivity and sound realism which will guide them on every occasion to a clear perception of that which seems the best. Grant that they may never deviate from that sound impartiality which dictates that they labor without unjust preferences for the good of all. Grant also that they may never fail in loyalty to their people, nor in firm adherence to the principles which we Catholics openly profess, nor in the noble resolve to preserve themselves above all possible corruption and base selfish ambitions.

   Help them to be calm in their deliberations and to be immune from all passion except such as is inspired by the honest quest after truth. May their resolutions be in conformity with Thy precepts even if the service of Thy will should demand suffering and sacrifices. May they, even in their own little way, endeavor to imitate that rectitude and holiness according to which Thou in Thy providence dost direct and govern everything for Thy greater glory and for the true well-being of human society and of all Thy creatures.

   Hear us, O Lord, in order that their minds may never be without Thy light, nor their wills without Thy strength, nor their hearts without the warmth of Thy love, for they ought to have a tender love for our people. Keep far from them every form of human ambition and every kind of lust for illicit gain. Inspire them with a real, lively and profound sentiment of what constitutes a sound social order wherein full regard is had for law and justice. Finally as a supreme reward grant them some day to enjoy Thy blessed presence for all eternity, in union with all those who have been entrusted to their care. Amen.

   I hope this bill goes down in flames, with the help of pro-life democrats. At times such as this, I often remember the words of Jesus, “You would have NO power if it were not given to you from above.” Of course, this applies not only to politics, but to the Church, teachers, parents, anyone who has authority over another! Let all remember that we are accountable.

   “Congressman Stupak has vowed that if he does not get a vote on his amendment barring federal funding of abortion, he and 40 pro-life Democrats will block a full House vote on the healthcare bill.”

   We can not only hope and pray, but we can also call AND write to our local congressmen. The Dems have to be a little nervous with the recent governorships, so perhaps they are more willing to listen to their pro-life colleagues and constituents.

   I wonder how much of this nonsense from pro-abortion “catholic” politicians St. Ambrose or St. Thomas Becket would put up with? “Dialogue” with these people has only allowed them to entrench. Formal cooperation with abortion already incurs excommunication latae sententiae (CCC 2272,)but this has been ignored. What is needed is a public Formal Decree of Excommunication. Since any penalty has as its object the repentance of the offender, it makes sense that if a mild dose has no effect, then a stronger dose is in order.

   Even if all 40 Bluedog Dems vote against the bill, this count will not be enough. We must pray that the Hispanic Caucus votes against it as well, and that some Catholic Dems may finally see the truth of abortion, euthanasia, and the protection of conscience. Pray, pray, pray…
