I sent this to the large families I know. The comments were mixed. God bless this family and all others like it. A lesson in Divine Providence and Divine Love, which has no limits.
Before (and indeed for some time afterwoods) God zapped me this was the sort of family I wanted to have, infact I wanted at least 8!!
Seeing this video was bitter sweet for me.
On the sweet side, my wife and I have only five children (ages 8 to 18 months) but I guarantee we have heard all of the same statements from strangers this week alone! The video made me laugh out loud!
On the bitter side, we are still coming to terms with the fact that we are unable to have any more natural children. Seeing that new baby made me jealous!
But we count our blessings each day for the great kids we have. In fact my middle son turned 5 today, praise God!
This video is a great reminder of how great a family is.
Thanks Father for posting it.
Wonderful!
I wonder how many times they had to try to record it before they got through from beginning to end?
Great video. To get married is a big enough challenge for some of us let alone the grace to take care of so many children. The one child saying “Do you know what causes it” may cause some questions that the parents may want to postpone answering for a few years I suspect.
I laughed at this because, as a mom of 7, you can bet that I’ve heard every one of these statements! Plus some that I won’t post publicly. Those comments used to sting a lot when I was younger, but now I mostly try to make light of it and tell them how much fun we are having.
This video has been out for some time. All the questions are indeed things people ask….except they are worse and often said unkindly(even by in laws!). In fact I had brothers and sisters that were my own children’s ages and when they went to school together (before I homeschooled the others) some teachers and others(in a Catholic school much yet) were disgusted that the uncle and nephew were good friends- and had a hard time understanding it. I even had a police officer call me once as a son was stopped in his car on the way home and he had an air soft pistol in the back seat..(no ammo) He said my son claimed it was his Uncle Dave’s and if that was his gun, to which I said yes. He said that Uncle should know better than to leave that gun there and he was acting no better than my teenager son…to which I said, he is a teenager. He is my brother and only 16- I come from a big family…14 kids…a lot of silence on the phone, and then the officer said–oh, okayyy…..could you take the gun and tell them both not to drive around with it in the back? (they had forgot it was there) and son soon came home without any further ado…and I took the gun…It has been fun to be in a big family and have one. I have been blessed..most of us (13of 14 siblings….13 children) will meet Christmas Eve for a potluck with my dad and nieces/nephews as we do every year-
Sign up that babe in Dad’s arms! She was singing in rhythm and right on key. LOL.
I have received more than half of those comments/questions, and that with only 4 children. Amazing that even 4 children is considered a large family.
I just delivered Son #6 yesterday morning… so you can bet we’ve heard all these as well. :)
I’m one of 11 (and a twin). I can’t imagine life any other way. We siblings support one another and enjoy each other when we have a chance to gather from all corners of the US. My sister has 6 children and here great pro-life doctor told her it would be OK to have more (Most doctors would be trying to get her to stop). I enjoyed the video very much.
We have 6 children, and like others who have posted, have heard ‘em all, and then some! One that my wife now gets on a somewhat regular basis (particularly when people at her work find out how many children we have) is: “Wow! You look GREAT for having 6 children!” Well, what is she supposed to look like??? Ay yi yi! *face/palm*
Delightful!
