34 weeks pregnant with #4 and still going strong… I got a maternity support belt the other day which is really helping with my back pain.
My husband and I got some much-needed couple time together at a Knights of Columbus Wives Appreciation Dinner on Saturday night.
Our Latin mass is back!
Since August it was suspended because the retired priest who drives 45 mi. ea. way to help us out, was hit by a car in a parking lot while walking. He spent some time in rehab and now is back as good as new! Some feat for an 80-something priest!
God really does want those EF masses!
Twelve hours in the ER Saturday, and a neighbor, whom I didn’t know well but suspected was a special person, accompanied us, spent the entire time there calming and encouraging and making us laugh, and then drove us home at 1:00 AM.
Home now and all will be well. Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ.
I assisted at a Holy Mass yesterday in which the celebrant actually preached on the proper understanding of participatio actuosa!!!! IT. WAS. EPIC.
And we sang Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus for the Offertory.
Gorgeous weekend hiking in the highlands. No injuries in our group despite a ridiculously steep 4hr descent through slick mud and razor sharp rock. Deo gratias!
Well, I am a bit nervous about my good news, but I have been living in a flat without water and have to bring buckets up many marble steps for everything. When I wash my clothes in the buckets, I think of Our Lady. Anyway, I have been promised running water on Wednesday afternoon (Yippee), and maybe even hot water by the end of the week. Fingers crossed.
But, the really good news is that there will be a TLM right here in Valletta on Wednesday evening, which will be a treat, as it does not occur in Malta on a regular basis.
Andy and Laura, two very good friends of mine, announced their long expected (by us) engagement! Two faithful Catholics tying the knot! Thanks be to God and His Blessed Mother.
A dear relative of mine had a recurrence of cancer…she has been going through extensive treatments for the past few months…as of her last checkup, the cancer couldn’t be found! Deo Gratias!!
Just spent the weekend with the Dominicans to help me discern my vocation better. Had a wonderful and prayerful time and think I want to join. Deo Gratias!
Excellent homily at the vigil Mass. The Holy Sacrifice of the Altar brings the past and future into the present. Father even sort of yelled a little he got so excited and he enunciated better than usual too. It was great. I told him I was afraid my pen was going to run out of ink.
The audiologist said I am the perfect profile for open ear hearing aids. I will be able to hear leaves rustle again. Hooray.
I have started a new diet and am walking as much as my back and legs will allow. I visited the woods yesterday. The leaves are down but the Asian honeysuckle is still in leaf and everywhere.
I attended a silent Ignatian retreat last weekend, with the Spiritual Exercises preached by the priests of Miles Christi. It was the best retreat I’ve ever been to, and really provided a renewed understanding of why and how I can live a full spiritual life as a layman. Clear, challenging, and compelling preaching, plenty of meditation, silence, and a call to firm dedication to the Lord, with an emphasis on examining and purifying motives, good liturgy, etc.

Our youngest daughter has expressed a calling to a religious vocation.
I am closing on a townhome in SoCal with a view of the Pacific, end of this month. I was supposed to be moving to NoVa, to a town with a wonderful traditional parish, close to the mountains, but sometimes our will is not His will, no matter how good what we want seems to us. Life can take sudden twists and turns, a beloved spouse can die unexpectedly, and everything changes.
My daughter is going to take care of my new house while I finish downsizing and getting my present home ready to go on the market.
The really good news is that there is a traditional parish, nine miles away from my new home, run by the Norbertine fathers and they have a weekly TLM.
Our new pastor (a Monsignor) brought back the biretta this week! Reinstating Latin Mass cannot be far behind :)
I went with my praesidium of The Legion of Mary on First Friday to the local abortion mill. We had probably fifty or so people praying the rosary and the exorcism prayers by the priest- we’re lucky they didn’t call the police when he threw blessed salt and holy water all over their place!
My 12 day old son was baptized according to the traditional form (is that “extraordinary now too?).
i turned 25 last thursday and had the best, most amazingly wonderful birthday ever. started out by going to the abortion mill, i had sent out an email blast asking friends to join me in this thanksgiving for my life. fully expected no one would come but THREE people came!!! then, celebrated on Saturday by going to a GF Italian place in center city philly [i have recently been diagnosed as gluten intolerant and am still majorly getting adjusted to this]. Dinner finnished with some scrumptious, absolutely decadent cake made at a gluten/dairy/egg free bakery on south street. first chocolate and sugar i’ve had in 2.5 months. i tell you, it felt positively Paschal. then, got the last 7 rush tickets for the philly orch concert, featuring a breathtaking performance of Brahms’ Requiem as well as Mozart #40, topped off with my first brewski i’ve had in months as well, a GF brand that is not wonderful but not hidious either.
as though that weren’t enough, thanks to the fact that the Mercidarians and Our Lady of Lourdes are/is, hands down, miles and away the best order/parish in the land, was able to receive the Holy Eucharist for the first time peaceably in months, **and** go to Confession, thanks to the fact that they stock low-gluten hosts as part of normal operations.
nothing could make this week more wonderful except if i had a date. :) so all you wonderfully married folks out there with your beautiful news of babies and anniversaries and children’s accomplishments, pray for us searching singles!!!

Just got back from lunch with Archbishop Nienstedt, Monsignor Callaghan (rector), and the other 2nd year Pre-Theologians here at the Saint Paul Seminary. The Archbishop comes about once a month to celebrate Mass and have lunch with the seminarians.
It really is a blessing to develop such a close relationship with our shepherd as we are in formation.
In our parish in (mission country) the Netherlands, we started a ‘catholic book library’ for the parishers last Sunday. Last Friday, we also started a ‘catholic movie evening’ (showed Mary, A Passionate Story) and today we started the first ‘during the week’ evening Mass.
We are so fortunate!
Yesterday Cardinal Burke came and offered Mass at my parish church :)
Last sunday for the Feast of Christ the King in the EF Calendar (Oct 30 this year), I served a Solemn EF for the first time as a humble torchbearer in a downtown parish. It wasn’t easy, considering we do much more than possibly Crossbearer, not to mention a last minute substitution for thurifer (who normally leads torches) who hadn’t known our cues we practiced with. None the less, it went as well as it could with 2 new people expressing interest to serve the TLM, and an atheist who now had much to think about after witnessing the Mass. I also went to another solemn TLM on All Saints and a Low (Dialogue) Mass before the AGM (this saturday) with my local Una Voce Chapter. I’d say where all this is taking place, but I want to keep my geographical location quiet as part of my blogging pseudonym.

Less than three weeks remain until we can retire the Sacramentary!
Just got plane tickets… in less then 3 weeks I’ll be in Fatima!!!!!
I have several things to share.
First, the EF Mass was uprooted from the Cathedral two years ago for restoration, and after its reopening has yet to be allowed/asked to return back. We heard this weekend it will be VERY soon now.
Then, the priest who has been driving over an hour to say Mass for the EF these past eight years is going to retire from doing it to focus his energy and attention solely on his parish duties (he is ailing somewhat in health as well I think). There are only two priests in our diocese who can say the EF Mass, one more regularly than the other, and he also drives a small distance to come to us.
But now, the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius in Chicago is coming to our diocese to instruct 8, count them 8!, priests in our diocese to learn to say the EF Mass!!!!!! This is so exciting.
On a personal note, my DH finally decided we should return to the EF Mass after being away from it the past three years. He has grown so much these past years, thanks be to God.
Finally, my 10-year-old daughter placed second in the State piano competition! She was only going for the experience and was not going for a win. We are so proud of her!!!

2 uneventful parent-teacher meetings. Our kids have come so far!
Maybe tomorrow, November 8th, will bring some good news by the 9th.
A Traditional Latin Requiem Mass for all the deceased pastors of St. Titus Church, 952 Franklin Ave, Aliquippa PA 15001, just NW of Pittsburgh, will be offered on Friday, 18 November 2011, at 7:00 PM, as part of the St. Titus centennial observance. The celebrant will be Canon William Avis of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest and the Mass will feature a men’s schola and instrumental soloists under the direction of Luke Mayernik, organist of the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Wheeling, WV.
The six deceased pastors were some wonderfully holy priests and we are so very grateful to be able to offer this Requiem Mass for them.
The Mass is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Woodlawn Council 2161 Traditional Latin Mass Guild with the gracious permission of the current pastor.
