This is pretty weird. But… well… not really. It’s Germany, after all.
This in the Cathedral of Paderborn. Not sure when. Perhaps one of you readers will know.

What a contrast to their patronal feast in 2017. HERE Gregorian Chant, Latin, Novus Ordo, Mozart’s Coronation Mass.
Remember… German bishops and theologians are exerting a lot of influence over the upcoming Amazonian Synod.
UPDATE
You readers are simply amazing. Kudos to a reader for the following note.
Please find in the link below the original video of the liturgical “dance” at the Cathedral in Paderborn. The original video is on the Domradio website. This occurred yesterday, i.e. Monday 29 July 2019 as part of some women’s Mass. the music is awful, but it is not Bob Marley. Note the clapping and standing ovation after the performance.

A Mass in Germany for “women in the Church”. What could go wrong? This dance, for one.
So… the Twitter version is a little deceptive. On closer examination, that seems to be someone’s video recording, probably using a phone camera, with Bob Marley playing in the background. In fact, this Twitter hashtag – #KFDdancestoeverysong – has lot of these videos of liturgical dance and some of them are pretty funny. It seems that not every German Catholic is nuts. Some of them are fighting back.
The original, however, though not Marley is nevertheless intensely cringe-worthy. It starts at about 32:30 followed by 5 minutes of liturgical idiocy. I’ll bet that during the zoom-in on the reliquary of St. Liborius, patron of the cathedral (invoked against colic and gallstones) we could have heard his bones whirling around in frustration and fury. The music, I’m sure you want to know, is “Du Bist Kein Zufall” by Till Matton.
The rest of the Mass seems to be a fairly straight forward Novus Ordo concelebration. I liked the consecration bells at 52:45. Sort of… “Christus Vincit”-like. There is an endless Sign of Peace. It’s actually just a couple minutes, but it seems endless. It always seems endless, as a matter of fact. The organist has got game, though I wasn’t entirely enamored of the selections he played.
There are various videos, by the way, for the week-long celebration of St. Liborius. This is a pretty deal there. One of the videos has the Bishop of LeMans, France, celebrating in Latin. There is a fairly modern setting of the Ordinary in Latin, including a boys choir. Gregorian chant propers. Too bad they stick the choir in front of the true altar and they use that horrid thing instead.
UPDATE:
Yes, folks… do check out that Twitter hashtag – #KFDdancestoeverysong . It’s a hoot. But don’t use it as an excuse to procrastinate, as I have been doing just now.
“Bob Marley Mass”. hunh. makes you feel nostalgic for a guitar Mass.
Because nothing says Source and Summit so eloquently as clumsy ballerinas, Rastamen, and Hegelian prelates.
The saddest thing is the high altar in the background that is completely ignored.
I simply cannot comprehend how anyone can see this and believe it is “progress”.
Apparently this Mass is an annual event offered in conjunction with the Libori Summer School program at the University of Paderborn, on the history of women philosophers and scientists.
The Mass is described here (auf deutsch, selbstverständlich) with a full video:
https://katholon.de/2019/07/29/skandalamt-mit-den-frauen-zu-libori/
Apparently this is supposed to be tamer than what happened in past years, and since the “dance” takes place 32 minutes into the video, it seems the organizers tried to keep the Mass relatively short. Alas, the performer took several minutes and did not seem to realize that in the Novus Ordo one should not cause the liturgical action to be unduly delayed.
It’s not surprising, but notice that the “performer” is directing her performance toward the “audience” and not toward the altar. Such a non orientation is a sure sign of a secular intent.

I wonder if it is any coincidence that the Greatest Commandment:
‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’
doesn’t include “and with all your body”? Perhaps God would have mentioned it if he wanted us to dance in sacred worship? Or maybe He DIDN’T want us copying the pagans in their worship of demons with their bodies?
Incidentally, Paderborn has one of the strongest Trad scenes in the whole of Germany. Saying “of course it’s Germany” is really doing us a great injustice. We are not all lunatic Liberals, Modernists, and Altar Dancers.
[Indeed. Hyperbole is a tool. And I acknowledge your point in my update to the post.]
At least Marley converted to Ethiopian Orthodoxy before his death.
I really would like to see some explanation from those who support this sort of thing of why they think a dance routine should be part of the universal prayer of the Church.
I’m genuinely curious what the people who promote having an entire congregation watch an (improvised? It doesn’t seem entirely choreographed) pre-teen skill level routine performed by a middle-aged adult, or any other dance routine, find to be the appeal or value of this.
Don’t know what pains me more–the awful dance or that a huge gaggle of the Priesthood sat silently as this charade was performed in Christ’s House.
At every Mass we are at the foot of the Cross. If it’s not appropriate to do at the foot of the Cross, it’s not appropriate to do at Mass.
That whole Mass looks like they’re worshiping themselves not God.

Of course, that is true.
I think, however, that the Amazonian synod is just an indirect way of letting the German bishops get rid celibacy.
I don’t really think either the US, Canada, or Europe is all that interested in what happens in Brazil–or for that matter, SAmerica. That is how how St Gallen Mafia was able to push Jorge Bergoglio through the conclave,

From what I know, there is little happening in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria except the SSPX, FSSP et al.
The Benedictines at Seigburg abandoned their monastery after hundreds of years. The Dominicans no longer have their well known library at Walberberg. The Redemptorist house of studies was bulldozed.
Let’s look at the wreckivation:
New sanctuary in the Crossing
– custom water-flowing carpet
– concrete altar with carved marble ‘choker’ around its base
-‘presider’s chairs wall-to-wall behind the altar
– cathedra scooped out of upper, original ante-choir
Former Ante-choir now just additional lay seating
-choir stalls filled with laity
-added stacking chairs to accommodate even more laity
Former sanctuary now serving as am “ante-Ante-choir”
-featuring overflow lay seating nearest the (is that the tabernacle?) high altar
-some sort of wooden pylon rising from the predela in front of the tabernacle
Sigh.
Are we absolutely sure this isn’t a parody? It’s hard to tell the difference between this performance in Paderborn and #KFDdancestoeverysong. ?
Thank you, Father, I appreciate this! :)
@robtbrown
The apostolates of the FSSP are steadily growing, and the institute tends for more and more churches. They are dependant on the goodwill of the local pastors, but usually, they are welcomed quite heartily.
Since I am from the archdiocese of Paderborn, I do know many priests personally, and I can assure you that there is a vibrant scene of Trads doing their work. The archbishop himself is liberal, and many dignitaries are liberal as well, but there are many priests who regularly offer the TLM, and some of them have high ranking positions in the diocese.
The Solemn High Mass offered last Sunday at the Busdorfkirche was organised by diocesan clergy. On the other hand, this “Maria 2.0” turbulence is organised by some grey-haired old ladies who will not survive the next 10 years anyway (because of old age). The Trad scene in Germany is alive, young, and growing.
KFDdancestoeverysong in fast motion looks like something from the Three Stooges or the Little Rascals. Bwaaa hahahaha! Totally ridiculous.
I used to teach in the FSSP seminary in Nebraska, so I’m familiar with their expansion. Recently, they had classes of c 25 new men.
I have a good friend who publishes Kirchliche Umschau. He told me that some SSPX priests now hear Confessions in diocesan churches.
In Kansas City, with an archdiocese and diocese, there is an FSSP church and ICKSP church. There is also an SSPX church and school. The N American SSPX Headquarters is a few miles north of KC.
And home schooling is possible here, Not so, I was told, in Germany
Has anyone asked why a huge multibillion-dollar multi-national corporation gets to have a synod? What did Amazon ever do for Catholicism to rate a synod, that GM or Microsoft didn’t do?
Has anyone noticed that the “Amazonian Synod” isn’t, you know, IN THE AMAZON? What’s up with that? Is it maybe that the whole Amazon rain forest is too barbarous a location for a synod, hmmm? And maybe the so-called “representatives” are also too barbarous to run a synod without their minders in Rome telling them to wipe their chins?
Is it maybe that Francis, all in favor of so-called “decentralization” of power, wants to keep his hand in the glove controlling that exercise of power by decentralization agents? So that what is marketed as decentralization is really marxist centralization: a pretense that outlying regional bodies have power, whereas in reality, they are controlled down to the least comma by the home office, through under-the-table methods of control.
i wonder what kind of incense they are burning ?
i will do my little dance thing, then you can do your little bread and wine thing.ok?
