Some views from the Square after the “white smoke”

Just a few pics I took last night, to share something of the moment and my view.

An exhausted me.

These are the guys I was standing near.  Happy, diocesan men.  They aren’t part of a specialized group.  THIS, friends, is how we proceed.  Five more years and we’ll have a whole new thing going on.

    Love it, especially the circle drawn around the chosen one’s picture.

    Fr. Tim Finigan has said a lovely prayer at the end of his post on Pope Francis:

    “Let us pray especially that he be given the grace of state as he begins his ministry as the successor of Peter.”

    I love seeing your pictures of Rome. I want to go one day!!
    Must have been so exciting to be there among the crowd cheering for our new Pope.

    Struck me yesterday how a humbling it was to see Benedict step down… then the election of a humble man who took a humble Saints name. Maybe Gods trying to tell us something?

    Those are excellent, Fr. Z. It must have been surreal to be there, and especially surreal to walk back and see the empty Square. Yes you do look exhausted, but if there was ever a time to be exhausted, you found it. Sleep later. :) It sounds as if you are encouraged by the emerging religious you are meeting in Rome! That is very encouraging to us as well, I’m sure.
    Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on our new Holy Father. We fell in absolute love with him within fifteen seconds of seeing him. My heart just melted like butter.

    Zuhlsdorf’s Law:

    The integrity of the Technology vis Ti is inversely related to the importance of the Event vis Ei.

    Therefore:

    Ei = 1/Ti

    We missed you Father!!

  6. Jean Marie says:

    Fr. Z – will you still be joining Michael Voris on the cruise?

    So exciting! I had the smoke-cam on, then heard voices from my computer as they saw white smoke. It was a wonderful day for us Catholics; no wonder the world is so envious!
