Nancy “the theologian” Pelosi: called out on the House floor!

I saw this at Gateway Pundit:

Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) chased Republican Tom Marino across the House Chamber after his speech on the House floor.

This came after Marino accused Pelosi and Democrats of neglecting the immigration crisis when she was Speaker. At one point in the video Marino replies to Democrats who are yelling out during his speech – Marina tells them, “It is true, Madam Leader! I did the research on it… That’s one thing you don’t do!”

FOX News reported:

A heated debate late Friday over security at the southern U.S. border led to a rancorous confrontation on the House floor between House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Rep. Tom Marino, R-Pa.

The dustup began when Marino accused Democrats of neglecting the immigration issue when they controlled the White House and Congress in 2009 and 2010, when Pelosi was House speaker, saying that the party is now exploiting the issue for political gains.

“Under the leadership of the former speaker … when in 2009 and 2010, they had the House, the Senate and the White House, and they knew this problem existed,” Marino said. “They didn’t have the strength to go after it back then. But now are trying to make a political issue out of it now.”

Soon after he made the remarks, Pelosi, in full view of House cameras, walked across the chamber to the GOP side of the aisle — a rarity in the House — to challenge Marino.

It was not clear what Pelosi said, but Marino responded immediately.

“It’s true, madam leader, I did the research on it,” Marino said. “You might want to try it. You might want to try it, madam leader. Do the research on it. Do the research. I did it. That’s one thing that you don’t do.”

This was priceless.

Why should she do the research? Why risk facts getting in the way of a good “meme”?

    Hit a nerve? Indeed.

    Priceless!

  4. Dienekes says:

OK as far as it goes. However, there is MORE than enough blame to go around for BOTH parties. The handwriting was on the wall decades ago–but nobody wanted to see it, much less do anything about it. The birds of passage we call our “leaders” kicked the can down the road, retired with honors and perks, and left us holding the bag.

It doesn’t get much more sordid or dishonest.

(Been there, done that, got the tee shirt.)

  7. majuscule says:

That was Nancy angrily scurrying across the bottom of the video at the end wasn’t it…?

  8. rodin says:

By her own admission Nancy does not even do minimal research. Isn’t she the one who said “We have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it”? Not reading a bill before voting for (or against) it proves the congressman’s point.

  9. KevinSymonds says:

    Thumbs up at rodin’s comment.

Now we see the violence inherent in the system!

  11. KevinSymonds says:

    THE POPE AND NANCY PELOSI

The Pope and Nancy Pelosi are on the same stage in front of a huge crowd.
To make it a little more interesting, Pelosi says to the Pope, “Did You know
that with just one little wave of my hand I can make every Democrat in the
    crowd go wild?”

He doubts it, so she shows him.. Sure enough, the wave elicits rapture and
cheering from every Democrat in the crowd. Gradually, the cheering
    subsides.

The Pope, not wanting to be out done by such a level of arrogance,
considers what he could do. “That was impressive, the Pope says, “But did you know
that with just one little wave of MY hand I can make EVERY person in the
crowd go crazy with joy? This joy will not be a momentary display like that
of your subjects, but will go deep into their hearts, and they will forever
speak of this day and rejoice.”

Pelosi seriously doubts this, and says so. “One little wave of your hand
and all people will rejoice forever? Show me.”

    So the Pope slapped her.

  12. incredulous says:

Nancy is a loon of the highest order. Her former position two steps away from the presidency is a stunningly sad statement on America and America’s electorate. Catholicism has really failed gravely when her being elected along with the president himself is a result of the support of more than half of us. Father Baron spoke to dumbing down the faith and one can only conclude that Pelosi herself as well as her being elected is a demonstration of the massive dumbing down of Catholicism?

Now I will go to confession.

  13. frjim4321 says:

    Where’s his research?

He’s a bully and an oaf.

As a Democrat I’m proud that Pelosi is not afraid to stand up to a bully.

    [Aaaaaaand… they’re off!]

  14. incredulous says:

Right Fr. Jim. Decorum notwithstanding. Roberts Rules of Order and other such mechanisms are put into place to stop physical confrontations like Nancy tried to instigate. He hardly did anything your beloved Democrats like Alan Grayson, Chuck Schumer or worse yet, the ever most despicable slanderer and bearer of false witness, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz haven’t done in terms of dressing down their opposition. However, making physical advances towards somebody is not acceptable. And of course, the mainstream media which backs your party 100% would have had clip after clip of an aggressive republican going after the poor, defenseless democrat simply exercising her first amendment rights. Instead, we get this highly clipped segment that is not reflected of what aired on c-span which edits out most of Pelosi’s lunacy and dangerous aggressiveness.

Fey, this double standard is gut churning. And getting it from a priest…

  15. Kerry says:

Character and behavior notwithstanding, was what he said the truth?

  16. robtbrown says:

    FrJim4321,

Research? Let’s see: In the first two years of Obamaco, the Dems had both houses of Congress. They could pass whatever they want. Did they pass any significant immigration reform? No.

If you know anything about the incident, you’ll know that it was Pelosi the Queen who was insulting, using bullying tactics.

  17. Johnno says:

    Where’s YOUR research frjim4321?

C’mon now… show us what you got!

Show us how you stand up to da big bullys of the world who do not like the precious Demoncrats that you are so proud of!

Spread your wings and bring them under your care you big eagle you!

  18. robtbrown says:

    KevinSymonds,

Pelosi seriously doubts this, and says so. “One little wave of your hand
and all people will rejoice forever? Show me.”

    So the Pope slapped her.

That reminds me of a famous incident in Hollywood in 1958. Harry Cohn, the much despised Columbia Pictures big shot, died. There was a huge crowd at his funeral, prompting Red Skelton’s comment. “It proves what Harry always said: give the public what they want and they’ll come out for it.”

  19. Besides Obama,if ever there was proof the Democratic party has gone to heck in a handbasket,Pelosi is it.
“He’s a bully and an oaf.

As a Democrat I’m proud that Pelosi is not afraid to stand up to a bully.”
When did speaking the truth become bullying? I missed something here.

  20. Mike says:

frjim4321: Nancy Pelosi herself admitted that Obamacare passed without the legislators of the most powerful nation on God’s earth knowing what was in it.

As a Catholic I am horrified that a man representing himself as a priest would be more eager to identify with the Party of Death and Lies and its apostatized “Catholic” enablers than with the Word and Truth of Eternal Life.

  21. Juergensen says:

    frjim4321 says: “As a Democrat I’m proud …”

What’s it like to be part of an organization devoted to abortion and homosexuality?

  22. frjim4321 says:

Further, I guess I would not be surprised to see repubicans putting a bully on a pedestal.

  23. Gail F says:

bourgja gets my Gold Star for the day!

Fr Jim reminds me of several of my Democrat friends, who like to make assertions but demand research, DETAILED research, from anyone else. The Democrats had the House and the Senate and the Presidency for two years, immigration has been an issue since long before President Obama took office. I don’t need to cite scads of research to assert facts we all know very well, and neither did that representative — who did not say anything bullying (especially by Nancy Pelosi standards — she’s said far worse herself). The Democrats want immigration reform that would be unfair to people all over the world waiting to come in our country; don’t address guest worker and similar issue; require an immense amount of money from states like mine that are already cash-strapped; are based on untenable premises such as the idea that everyone from entire South and Central American countries automatically qualifies as a refugee; tacitly endorses tens of thousands of impoverished families further impoverishing themselves to send their own children off on a dangerous journey that may lead to their deaths, imprisonment, or enslavement; creates national security risks… and those are only the problems that jump to mind without much thought. This is an immense and far-reaching problem and Obama’s policies or lack of such have made it far, far worse. CARING A LOT ABOUT SOMETHING DOESN’T MATTER. All that matters is what you can do about something, and what the Democrats are doing is making a crisis they started into a bigger crisis.

Further, I guess I would not be surprised to see repubicans putting a bully on a pedestal.”

Bully, eh? Your characterization of him as a bully, Pelosi as a victim and anybody you don’t know as a Republican are wrong, wrong and wrong.

A trifecta of error. Lovely. But, why is it not surprising that any democrat, including a priest would support bullying and anti civilized behavior from a loon like Pelosi, bash a guy he doesn’t even know and most importantly be completely blind to the never ending stream of slander coming from the chairwoman of the DNC who happens to be my feckless congressional representative? Not to mention the even more subtle discrimination and bigotry which is implied by you when you accuse somebody you don’t even know of being a republican as if it is a slur because they disagree with your assessment of the loon’s behavior.

[Let’s – everyone – breathe and think before posting, lest I start shutting people down.]

  26. frjim4321 says:

I’m hardly a troll. I’m quite real, let me assure you.

Reconverted Idiot, you may not have much history here since I’ve not seen your login before.

I’m a pastor of a midsized RC parish in the Midwest. Our Gracious Host knows that I am real. [Trolls live under bridges, after all, or in caves. Right?]

My heartfelt belief is that the republic party is entirely disingenuous with respect to its “prolife” (sic) rhetoric. I see no compelling evidence that would call a Christian to endorse either party. But I find a more compelling communitarian thrust in the Democratic party.

But no, not a troll, I assure you. [Well played. But you sure know how to derail and distract. Gotta hand it to you. Now some will start talking about you, instead of how dreadful Nancy Pelosi is. o{]:¬) ]

  27. benedetta says:

So Pelosi basically was threatening him to “be quiet”, yes? Not surprising. She acted pretty quickly right there. I guess if he was a bully she’ll correct the record and give us her research from 09 and 10 on this.

  28. benedetta says:

Also as to proper nomenclature and “troll”…it doesn’t imply that one fails to exist. If implies something else altogether. Something about the ways in which that person expends the gift of their existence.

  29. pinoytraddie says:

To choose the lesser of two “Wierdos”(that is as far As I could be Charitable with them),I would rather Listen to “Fr” Anthony Cekada’s rants over that of “Fr” Jim.

  30. benedetta says:

I can’t support the Dem Party in this country as they will never permit prolife just to be represented at the caucus or on the platform, from the top on down, and even while they claim that they are for the poor they also say that the disposal of the offspring of the poor and all are worth sacrificing so as to never connect a sense of responsibility for the planet to sexual libertinism.

I actually think we should welcome the migrating children. The conditions this administration has subjected them to are barbaric. So the fact that Pelosi and the administration was aware of what was coming and did not plan a proper and humane welcome for them is unconscionable.

As a NARAL award winner, Pelosi seems not to recognize the reality of science which reflects the personhood of babies developing in their mother’s wombs. So I can’t take seriously anything she has to say about a humanitarian crisis to our south when she has engineered such discouragement and destruction of women’s health and our children.

  31. lana says:

    dear frjim
every republican president in recent history has in their first week cut all foreign’aid’ that is for overseas abortions. And every democrat president has in their first week reinstated such aid. it doesnt get more real than that. and the damage done by democrat appointees in the UN is huge.

i will say a holy hour for you! even if your views are sincere they will cause scandal because the democrats are most definitely anti-life and you are a priest.

    blessings

  32. Reconverted Idiot says:

frjim, first off my apologies if my comment came across as ungracious or ‘counter-trolling’. Fr Z appears to have understood me aright, so we’ll leave that there.

As for supporting one side or another in politics, well, let me just share a little of my own background, if I may. I am what I’ve taken to calling “a recovering Freudo-Marxist”, I was commie through and through prior to my reversion to the True Church within the last year (thereby suspending in the process my commitment to the “Groucho Marx principle” of never joining a club which would have me as a member, a principle which thankfully prevented me from ever joining political organisations outright). As such, I know I have a long way to go in the faith. I’d long held the republican party in disdain, and even now struggle to understand how many of my Christian brothers and sisters can so readily nail their colours (that stray ‘u’ should indicate that I speak The Queen’s English, so no points for guessing where I’m from) to the republican flagpole.

There are a few principles which come to mind that I try to adhere to when looking at the shenanigans of politicos: 1) make sure of all things, hold fast to the good; 2) I do not “have no king but Caesar” — I have a King, His name is Jesus Christ. Beyond those I could add stuff about being “not of this world” and whatnot, but hopefully that gets to the point.

As you are probably aware, here in God’s Own Country, Our Blessed Mother’s Dowry, we have two essential political poles identified as the Conservative and Labour parties, and I had always been a Labour supporter. At present I’m ‘undecided’ as to how I shall use my vote, neither represents positions which are wholly in line with the things my growing faith leads me to value. While Labour’s progressivism was once my ‘spiritual home’, today I see quite clearly how opposed to Christian values much of it is. However, the Conservative ideology is replete with the Theology of Mammon, while both advance the modern notion of a risk-reward society (where the vast majority take all the risk and a small, exclusive minority get all the reward).

When I look across the pond I see similar dynamics at play, though perhaps more clearly polarized. With an education in Physics and a love of science I’m aghast that the quality of debate in many areas where science is concerned.

I think I can see why a priest like yourself feels more ‘at home’ supporting the democrats over the republicans. But, and this is the big one, if someone calls herself Catholic and supports abortion and subscribes to moral relativism, it’s no longer about politics as such, it’s about false brethren, it’s about people hanging their ideology off of Christ’s own Body/Church and misleading others in the process: and here lies Nancy Pelosi (may God have mercy on her soul).

Beyond that, the issue with the above video is twofold as I see it: the man speaking claims to have researched and discovered something which is evidently the case: 1) the administration knew that the current problems at your southern borders were about to happen, and has allowed it to happen, a conclusion which appears well supported by the evidence; 2) the children should all be sent back, a conclusion which appears motivated by the same pig-headed uncharitable mindedness that I have so loathed in the republican movement these past years.

I’m not about to argue for a solution, I admit I have none. I only have Christ, and His commandments, and I am but a babe in those things, but I would like to see those who have long been eating ‘the meat of the word’ offer something of more substance when they have the chance. That’s one reason why I follow this blog, there’s stuff to chew on, to cut my teeth on, and long may it continue.

    God bless.

  33. incredulous says:

Sorry, I’m trying to focus on Pelosi. However she is elected by people. If I have my information correct, more than half of Catholics support her. This is incredible scandal and she’s not the source of the problem, her supporters are. Well, perhaps the real source of her problems is diabolical.

  34. SKAY says:

Pelosi looks as ridiculous as Hillary did when she presented her Russian counterpart the “reset” button but the word in Russian was misspelled. The Russians realized then what incompetents they were dealing with and were amazed at their good luck. The former Secretary of State at least spoke Russian–but she would not have tried that silly stunt anyway. Pelosi’s behavior points out how pampas and self-centered she is. Her sense of self importance is embarrassing to watch.

frjim has said in the past that he is for ssm so it makes sense that he is defending this Democrat. His reason for his Democrat leanings was exactly what I heard from an older priest (before the first Obama election) who was involved with the Soros funded Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good. The priest was encouraging people to vote for Obama, while trying not to appear so,during a local supposedly Catholic TV program. I called the producer(a Catholic) and my eyes began to open. I will be nice–she seemed incredibly naive.

  35. frjim4321 says:

No, I did not derail . . . another reader called me a troll.

  36. CrimsonCatholic says:

What “catholic teaching” will Pelosi cite in defense of this action? Makes you wonder.

  37. robtbrown says:

    FrJim4321 says,

My heartfelt belief is that the republic party is entirely disingenuous with respect to its “prolife” (sic) rhetoric. I see no compelling evidence that would call a Christian to endorse either party.

I endorse no party, but I would like to point out that since Roe v Wade, no SCOTUS Justice (1) nominated by a Democrat has ever voted to restrict abortion. And all 5 Justices behind the decision that the Unaffordable Care Act contraceptive mandate violates the Free Exercise clause were Republican appointees.

    (1) The dissenting votes in Roe were cast by Whizzer White, a JFK nominee, and Wm Rehnquist

  38. incredulous says:

Here’s the most blazing hypocrisy from a democrat ever seen which is in the media today.

    http://launch.newsinc.com/share.html?trackingGroup=90046&siteSection=dailycaller&videoId=26481520

DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is calling the republicans callous regarding illegal immigrants when Debbie herself endorsed, along with Democratic Senator Bill Nelson a project which would have built the biggest immigration deportation facility in the country in her very own district which would have been built and run by Corrections Corporation of America (CCA). She signed the endorsement a few weeks before accepting a donation from CCA. She would not even meet with her constituents (almost exclusively immigrants) regarding her support for the largest deportation center in the country.

She is so bad on immigration and so hypocritical on immigration the left wing was forced to take her on in this piece by Cuentame:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=xQiBEnHUBSI

Would Father Jim find it acceptable for, say Alan West, to charge at her to shut her up for HER hypocritical bullying, demagoguery and profiteering off the backs of illegal immigrants? This is the party Father Jim supports.

  39. incredulous says:

    http://video.foxnews.com/v/3711526234001

So here’s an interview with Father Jim’s “bully” regarding the incident. He seems pretty even keeled. Even though Pelosi called him a liar (when he wasn’t lying at all–not even in the slightest–100% truth in his statement) which is bearing false witness, called this human being “insignificant” thereby demonstrating her supremacy mindset and being very un-Catholic but totally in character for the democratic party, and physically charged at him, he maintained his decorum as a gentleman. He didn’t act feral and or rabid as Pelosi did. You can see how upsetting the truth is to Nancy. And the congressman is right; Pelosi disrespected his constituents. She thinks because she was the most powerful woman in congress, she has unlimited authority to act as she fits and not follow any rules. Only for thee and not for me…

Further, look at what the media did to Joe Wilson for calling Obama a liar. As we all 100% agree on, Obama was lying. So here is a little guy standing up against the most powerful man on the planet for his bullying and lying and I doubt Father Jim even considered that it was David taking on Goliath.

Father Jim cheerleads for the ruling establishment that doesn’t value life, liberty or the poor. If Pelosi doesn’t daily and unequivocally demonstrate that lack of respect for life , nobody does.

Oh, and when Pelosi stand up to the Pope taking him on for “lying” about Catholic theology regarding abortion, birth control, homosexuality, etc., does Father Jim still say “bravo Nancy?” Same situation. Man tells truth. Pelosi stand up to “bully.”

No, Nancy is out of line.

  40. cyrillist says:

I can perfectly understand why a Catholic priest would decline to affiliate himself with the Republican Party.

I am completely unable to comprehend how a Catholic priest could decide to affiliate himself with the Democratic Party.

  41. incredulous says:

    cyrillist,

Actually, I think you have hit THE sentiment regarding both parties completely accurately. I’ve repeatedly said that the democrats are 100% corrupt and bad. The republicans are 80% corrupt and bad. Get rid of the democratic party, split the republican party and then let the GOPe and the honest republicans duke it out in the court of public opinion.

  42. incredulous says:

    http://youtu.be/tEmkyM21RgE

Yet another clip with Marino where he states (unquestionably accurate) that the Sergent at Arms had to remove Pelosi from the chamber. Why did the Sergent at Arms remove the victim of bullying and not the bully, Father Jim? We know why… because Pelosi was the bully and she was rightfully removed. I’m not sure the definition of bullying is well understood.
