  1. Captain Peabody says:

Newsweek is the worst magazine ever. Their “analysis” is dumber than a box of rocks, and their “reporting” is so biased that it’s not even funny anymore. Their sole reason for existence is to immediately and mindlessly trumpet every latest intellectual turd currently fashionable among liberals, and then next week to do it again for another totally contradictory one. Oh, and they also sometimes serve as a good place to read Moveon.org’s latest political analysis.

Basically, Newsweek is a giant trumpet for the absolute dumbest parts of that black hole of vacuous nothingness that is the liberal zeitgeist. Avoid it like the plague.

If you think this is overly harsh, know that this is a hatred borne out of experience, and of many, many years of Newsweek subscriptions (thanks mostly to gifts by a really kind and lovely grandmother who I don’t want to at all cast aspersions on). It took me years to acquire this hatred of Newsweek, years of gradually growing tolerance, annoyance, and anger. Eventually, I stopped trying to read the magazine at all. Some time after that, it reached the point where I took to immediately tearing up and throwing out every single Newsweek magazine to enter the house. And let me tell you; it was one of the best decisions of my life.

Over the past few years, though, Newsweek has rapidly been becoming less and less of a legitimate annoyance and more and more of a joke. Its readership is dwindling, its attempts to appear relevant by breathlessly copying the content of the worst sort of smarmy liberal blogs are becoming more transparent, and it is definitely in the death spiral.

    But its stupidity remains…and stupidity…must…be…opposed!

    Captain Peabody,

Are you suggesting that Newsweek has “jumped the shark” in the realm of print?

for some real news, totally unadulterated and non-partisan…Newsweek is not a news magazine, but a propaganda machine. Most people do not read. And, look what is happening…with the rise of the irresponsible media.

I cancelled my subscription to Newsweek almost 15 years ago. One of the reasons: I got tired of the covers that featured dark, scary, shadowy pictures of Newt Gingrich, Pat Buchanan and Bob Dole with negative/alarmist headlines while the Clintons and Gores graced Newsweek covers smiling with light backgrounds, touched-up faces, and encouraging headlines.

So this isn’t new. Since then, they’ve just gotten worse. Remember their recent cover story, “The Religious Case for Gay Marriage”?

  5. John Nolan says:

Newsweek makes the Fishwrap look balanced. Or should that be the other way round?
