Behold, a spittle-flecked nutty in progress from NOW: USCCB and GOP want to kill women

NOW, the National Organization of Women, has been struggling to remain relevant for some years now. Mention NOW and most women will say “Who?”

NOW is having a spittle-flecked nutty about the fact that the Catholic Church is resisting Pres. Obama’s latest move in the kulturkampf.

NOW prez, catholic, Terry O’Neill has so flipped out that she is now howling that resistance by the bishops and, of course Republicans, is going to KILL women.

Sounds rather like catholic Nancy Pelosi, doesn’t it? “Kill” women?

This isn’t the lunatic raving of an unhinged ideologue.  This is just standard leftist boilerplate.

In October 2011 Pelosi said that Republicans want women to die on the floor.

There there is Rep. Louise Slaughter (nomen omen -D-NY 28):

Now for NOW on the USCCB and the GOP, between which she draws a laughable moral equivalence:

The collusion of House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has led to an open declaration of war on the women of this country. The bishops have long sought to enshrine into law those policies of the Catholic Church that subordinate women. And they don’t care how badly women get hurt in the process.

In the last election, the bishops helped to elect legislators that would do their bidding, which includes enacting dangerous and discriminatory bills denying women safe, accessible and affordable abortion care and family planning, even encouraging hospitals to let women die in the name of ‘life.’

A recent poll shows abortion ‘barely registers’ among voter priorities, and yet Speaker Boehner has declared barring federal funding for abortion care a ‘highest priority’ — responding not to the call of his constituents but to the demands of the bishops. And it turns out abortion isn’t the only target, as evidenced by their stunningly dangerous efforts that, if enacted, can and will result in the preventable deaths of women:

[…]Not only are these assaults on women’s rights at odds with generally accepted medical practice and flatly unethical, there is little doubt that they will kill women.

Do they all have the same writer or is this just the fruit of a liberal education?

How much do catholics such as Pelosi and O’Neill have to do before can. 915 is applied?

Were can. 915 applied properly a few times, priests and the general public would start to get a sense of how it is properly applied, instead of just assuming that it may be applied to anyone at all even for well-intentioned motives.

If I were Bishop of Black Duck, I would advise Terry O’Neill privately, that without her issuing a public statement retracting her mendacious accusation, can. 915 would necessarily have to apply in her case.  If she then did not come around, I would then issue a press-release that she has been advised.  I would thereafter send a memo to all priests of the diocese and to the local newspapers that Terry O’Neill may no longer present herself for Holy Communion within the Diocese of Black Duck and that no priest or minister of Communion should administer the Eucharist to her except in the case of danger of death, presumably after her confession and anointing.

    >Mention NOW and most women will say “Who?”

Just respond. “Who is on first , NOW is out is left field.”

  2. I’m sick to death of these women saying they are speaking for ALL women! Funny, they didn’t call me and ask how I feel about it. I’ve even had an abortion – so how’s that for a demographic – yet somehow no phone call.

  3. Y2Y says:

“This isn’t the lunatic raving of an unhinged ideologue. This is just standard leftist boilerplate.”

    Same thing.

When reading statements like “Not only are these assaults on women’s rights at odds with generally accepted medical practice and flatly unethical, there is little doubt that they will kill women” I always have to do a double take, thinking perhaps they are talking about what abortion does.
Being forced to pay for abortions? yup, an assault on this woman’s rights. At odds with medical practice of “do no harm”? Check. Unethical? Check. And there’s little doubt that women will be killed, check – a little under half of abortions will kill females long before they get a chance to compete for equal wages.

Someone should serve her her own words on a hoagie roll.

Funny, I’m not dead, and I have followed Catholic teaching, to the point of bearing a still born baby with Trisomy-18 instead of having a partial birth abortion. The Brooklyn Archdiocese approved a Missa De Angelis and Luke is buried at Holy Rood in Long Island. I was greatly saddened but it didn’t kill me. And I think my little saint is praying for me every day.
    These liberals have no faith.

If only this weren’t real so I could laugh at it. It would be quite hilarious if it weren’t for the stakes involved.

As Catholics — who, by our nature as Catholics must hate women, or so we’ve been told so many times — let’s not forget to call upon the greatest creature that ever has been, or ever will be, the Seat of Wisdom, the Mediatrix of All Graces, the Cause of Our Joy, the Mother of Our Creator…. Oh, yea, that’s right, Mary, the Mother of God is also a woman! Funny how we’re simultaneously declared “anti-woman” and ridiculed for our devotion to the Blessed Virgin. And may she please intercede for us. We are in dire need of her loving assistance.

  7. NoTambourines says:

It’s worth mentioning that one of Pope Benedict XVI’s monthly intentions for March is:

Contribution of Women. That the whole world may recognize the contribution of women to the development of society.

What’s the other? It’s also timely, at home and abroad:

Persecuted Christians. That the Holy Spirit may grant perseverance to those who suffer discrimination, persecution, or death for the name of Christ, particularly in Asia.

    There’s no surprise here…bad moral theology…and a public woman. :)

  9. APX says:

I know who NOW is. I was suspicious of where my online women’s studies class was getting its information from. When I checked the “Sources” page it was a litany of NOW articles. Not happy with my “quality” education, I took a day off from my internship to have a meeting with the department head and raised my complaints. The course content of the class is now under review.

These are not real ‘women’. They are faux. Women are ‘motherly’. They don’t eat their young.
I can’t imagine being in the same room with one of them. Their arrogance is only surpassed by their ignorance. They have no freedom, but are imprisoned by misconceptions about who they are and who others think they are. They are not free! I will gladly shed my blood to rid the world of this evil.

  11. RichR says:

Our little silent Holocaust. Keep your eyes open for an American Swastika. Once we classified the unborn as “non-human”, we started down the same road as Nazi Germany. You may have asked yourself at one point in your life, “How could the Germans get to that point of depravity?”. Well, witness the same process unfolding in our own culture.

These pro-choicers don’t even see how twisted their logic is. Invoking “justice” as an argument for abortion. How sad.

  12. Gail F says:

“In the last election, the bishops helped to elect legislators that would do their bidding,”

HA HA HA HA HA! Do their bidding!

I just inteviewed Dr. Jack Willke, of Right to Life fame. Founder of local, state, and national, Right to Life, most successful president for RTL ever, founder of Life Issues Institute and — literally — one of the greatest prolife warriors in the world, who has been fighting for SIXTY-THREE YEARS to end abortion. And do you know how much support he has had from bishops?

    HA HA HA HA HA.

This battle is the battle of the laity, and Ohio (where JOHN BOEHNER comes from — his constituents!) is very big in the prolife movement. Not that this woman cares, but I thought i would mention it for readers who might not know.

This woman is either crazed or so cynical and twisted that she will lie like crazy on the off chance that ever time she does so, she convinces someone or other. PRobably both. The lies are breathtaking.

  13. ScholaLady says:

Infinite Grace, of course NOW speaks for you and for all of us. It’s just that we’re ignorant women who have allowed ourselves to be brainwashed. As far as the feminists are concerned, we don’t know what’s good for us and we need them to lead us out of our ignorance, whether we want them to or not.

  14. JMody says:

Which Catholic commentator referred to the Blessed Virgin as something like “our sorry race’s solitary boast”?

And as for Canon 915, it won’t stop them from finding some ordained sap to commit horrifying sacrilege and give them Communion anyway, but it would be a very good thing in terms of setting a bar, strengthening the rest, and preparing for the coming test. It would CERTAINLY keep people like me from mulling over Breaker Morant’s “Rule .303″ as an alternative …

  15. Andy Lucy says:

    “These liberals have no faith.”

I disagree. I believe they have an overabundant surplus of faith… unfortunately, it is wholly misplaced.

  16. bookworm says:

“Which Catholic commentator referred to the Blessed Virgin as something like “our sorry race’s solitary boast”?”

It was the poet William Wordsworth (who I believe was Anglican), in his poem “The Virgin”:

Mother! whose virgin bosom was uncrost
    With the least shade of thought to sin allied;
    Woman! above all women glorified,
    Our tainted nature’s solitary boast;
    Purer than foam on central ocean tost;
Brighter than eastern skies at daybreak strewn
With fancied roses, than the unblemished moon
    Before her wane begins on heaven’s blue coast;
Thy Image falls to earth. Yet some, I ween,
Not unforgiven the suppliant knee might bend,
As to a visible Power, in which did blend
All that was mixed and reconciled in Thee
Of mother’s love with maiden purity,
Of high with low, celestial with terrene!

  17. The Egyptian says:

“is this just the fruit of a liberal education?”

    FRUIT, most definitively, fruit

  18. One of those TNCs says:

Memorize: “Pregnancy is not a disease or illness, so contraception is not health care.”

  20. Supertradmum says:

Insanity is a result of sin. Over the years, when people sin and sin, they lose their rational capacities. The result is madness. I have experienced this first-hand from people in my life, who have chosen a completely self-centered lifestyle instead of the Cross, instead of love, and then end up really, truly mad.

I am sorry for these people, and not all madness is the result of sin, but in the case of such a lack of rational discourse as seen here, it is clear that when the conscience is not formed, the mind suffers.

  21. pjthom81 says:

As a Republican…is it wrong of me to note that the same tactics that the Left has employed against us for years are now being used on the Catholic Church? Is it too much for me to hope that they might, by use of these same tactics against enough people, create a coalition against them large enough to doom them to irrelevance?

I think of them as bullies, bereft of their playground. The only way to beat them is for every one who suffers their attacks to not let them get away with anything. Let everyone know exactly what they do, and what to expect, and why they do it. They want the state to control everything in health care. Catholics control a fair portion so they specifically design politics to shut down the Church in this area. The public should be told this…over and over and over again between now and election day.
